Kawaii Time Garden — dev update: a playground of critters, fed by your own browsing

Kawaii Time Garden is a new Chrome side panel extension, built and tested this week: a category-based time tracker that never logs your browsing history, paired with a hatch-and-collect critter playground fed by ordinary page navigation. What’s built so far

• Category time tracking — sites are sorted into categories you define; the address itself is classified once and discarded, never stored
• A hatch-and-collect playground on the front page — every page you visit banks a step, steps hatch eggs, eggs reveal one of 99 procedurally-drawn critters across four rarity tiers
• An optional Pomodoro-style focus timer, entirely separate from the critter loop
• Shareable cloud affirmation cards — a kawaii cloud with something kind to say about time, rest, and quiet progress, exportable as an image
• CSV and JSON export, filterable by any date range
• Multi-window aware, and keeps tracking time even with the panel closed

Why a playground

Most time trackers are built to make you feel behind. Kawaii Time Garden is built to be fun first: it doesn’t rank you, doesn’t tell you what’s healthy, and doesn’t have an opinion about how you should browse. The playground is just a reward for existing online — a slow-growing cast of critters that hatch whether you’re heads-down working or deep in a YouTube hole, with a running total underneath in case you’re curious.

Is it available yet?

Not yet public — it’s packaged and tested locally, and Chrome Web Store submission is next. This page will update with the store link once it’s live.

Does it track my browsing history?

No. Sites are classified into a category and the address is discarded immediately — only category totals per day are stored. The critter playground is fed by anonymous navigation counts, not URLs either. Zero network requests of any kind.

Will it be free?

Yes — free, no account required, everything stored locally on your device.
