Tantrum is on the Chrome Web Store

DHSeaDev — Chrome Extensions, Windows Tools, & Idle Games

Tantrum is a Chrome extension that turns the web page in front of you into a toy: you can wreck it, mend it with gold, grow plants over it or doodle on it, and Esc puts everything back. As of October 2, 2026 it has a listing on the Chrome Web Store. The listing shows version 0.2.0 and a last-updated date of September 30. My last Tantrum post said the listing was still in preparation. It is up now.

What does Tantrum do?

Click its button on an ordinary page and a small toolbar appears. Rage shoves, hammers, burns and shatters things. Mend puts knocked-off pieces back and turns each crack into a gold seam. Wild grows morning glories, ivy, moss and mushrooms where you click. Doodle has paint, tape, a marker, bubble wrap and frost. Chaos Mode is the fifth mode: a small black cat picks tools and does all of it for you. I wrote about how the cat decides what to do in Chaos Mode: a small black cat that wrecks the page for you.

Changes happen only in your own tab. The site itself is never touched, and reloading brings the page back. The project page, Tantrum, has the full tour and the privacy policy.

What does it ask Chrome for?

The listing names three permissions: activeTab, scripting and storage. It also lists site-specific access, which only applies if you turn on Keep for a site. Keep is how your changes stay on a page after you leave and come back, and it is off until you choose it, one site at a time. Tantrum makes no network requests and has no accounts or analytics.

Why did I make it?

I started from Page Rage, an extension for smashing web pages, and wanted to take the idea further in two directions. One is healing, where the page gets reconstructed instead of just ruined. The other is nature, with plants and moss growing over the damage. Mend and Wild are those two. I am not claiming Tantrum is better than Page Rage. It does a different mix of things.

What is not known yet?

The listing shows no user count and no ratings, so I am not quoting any. It is in the Entertainment category. I have not tested it on every kind of page, and some sites will behave strangely. If one does, tell me which site and I will look at it. You can write to me at dhseadev@gmail.com.
